During her visit to Liberia in 1998, Lucy encouraged a women’s group to unite and assist orphans, needy children, and widows in Owens Grove. She believed that through unity and prayer, they could make a significant impact on the lives of the people in Liberia. While in Liberia, Lucy met Mr. and Mrs. Alex Clarke, the founders of the Children’s Rescue Center in Mount Barclay. It was during this meeting that the Clarkes decided to relocate to Monrovia, having lost everything, including the buildings on the campus, due to the civil war. Together, Lucy and the Clarke family made the decision to collaborate in helping orphans and abandoned children in Liberia.
Today, Children’s Rescue Outreach International (CROI) owns five acres of land in Grand Bassa County, Compound #1. CROI has constructed two dormitories for boys and girls, a school, and a church."
